The Undercover Spy Lab

In this lab, we examine a site that has been sold and see how we can replicate the results (without all the guesswork.)

The Site – TheMotoExpert.com

Flippa Listing - https://flippa.com/9034050-themotoexpert-com

Date Sold - 11th September 2017

Price Sold For - $11,000

Age of Site When Sold – 3 years

Details – This is a great example of how sites making just $339 per month can be sold for a 5 figure profit. It's in the motorcycle niche and appears to focus heavily on promoting motorcycle helmets.

It has just 37 pages indexed in Google, so is a small site but probably a lot more potential for the new owner to explore.

Keywords Targeted – It targeted all types of motorcycle helmet keywords.

Backlinks – The site has barely any backlinks, just 4 showing in MajesticSEO.

What My Plan Would Be To Clone The Results – I would set up a brand new site using a domain name that has motorcycle or helmets (or both) in it. I would then create 1,000 word content posts that target relevant keywords and place Amazon native ads and other monetization on each page. I would most likely need to have 35+ posts on the site to become more of an authority in the niche but these can be added on an ongoing basis.

Potential keywords I would target:

bluetooth motorcycle helmet

best motorcycle helmet

carbon fiber motorcycle helmet

matte black motorcycle helmet

cool motorcycle helmet

green motorcycle helmet

best bluetooth motorcycle helmet

best motorcycle helmet brands

motorcycle helmet reviews

motorcycle helmet review

and other related long tail keywords found during research.

I would use social, Web 2.0 and PBN links to rank the site over the course of 12-24+ months. I would heavily focus on getting topically related and thematically related backlinks..

The aim would be to get to $1,000+ per month in profit and then sell for $25,000+

The Sniper Lab

The Sniper Lab is all about creating small 3-5 page websites that target buyer keywords with an Exact Match Domain (EMD).

You simply browse the Amazon marketplace to find products, then put those into the Google keyword planner and see what searches come up. Find one that gets 250+ searches a month that has a .com available domain and you're good to go!

You can use a free keyword tool like this one to get more accurate search volumes than the Google keyword planner now gives you.

These are really simple sites to make and each can make you 4 figures in profit when you sell them. They make great additions to add to your Amazon empire.

Here are some domains you can use right now (each one is available as I'm typing this and has a clean history):

coolmotorcyclehelmet.net - 880 searches per month

matteblackmotorcyclehelmet.com - 880 searches per month

blackmotorcyclehelmet.net - 880 searches per month

animalmotorcyclehelmet.com - 880 searches per month

greenmotorcyclehelmet.net - 590 searches per month

germanstylemotorcyclehelmet.net - 590 searches per month

bluemotorcyclehelmet.net - 480 searches per month

fighterpilotmotorcyclehelmet.com - 480 searches per month

militarymotorcyclehelmet.com - 480 searches per month

bestbluetoothmotorcyclehelmet.net - 480 searches per month

These will obviously be snapped up fast by members but give you an idea of what to look for. A new list will be added every month.

The Ranking Lab

Getting More From Your PBN's

When creating PBN sites, it can become expensive especially if you're targeting different niches. That's why I tend to just stick to health & fitness niches because I can use the PBN sites for all my money sites.

If you're in different niches then it doesn't make sense to link to various money sites from the same PBN sites. So you can get a lot more bang for your buck if you stick to the same niches.

Obviously make sure all sites are on different hosts but you can certainly generate a lot more link juice when you're targeting just one niche.

Another benefit is you can really make the PBN's niche relevant by adding your main keywords or niche terms into the blog title. This is a big factor these days and will only become more important.

By making your PBN sites super relevant by adding your main terms into the title, it means you can also utilise low price auction domains. Ones with no bids can be bought for $15 or so and even if they only have 5-20 referring domains, they can give lots of great boost to your sites.

Another thing I often get asked is whether you can link to different pages of one money site from a PBN site. Yes, you can and I really recommend it. Link to the homepage and one or two more pages. That way you are getting far more link juice to your site with the same amount of effort.

The Q and A Lab

Questions that have been sent in this month:

Q – Do you use a plugin for internal linking?

A – I don't concern myself too much with internal linking at all. I create sites so that most pages are just 2 clicks at most away from the homepage, so the link juice is still powerful from links sent to the homepage.

Q – What if I don't want to use PBN links?

A – You can absolutely create sites and rank them without using PBN links. But it will typically take a lot more work and more time to do so. Plus you won't always have full control over the links if you are reaching out to other sites to link back. With PBN links you have full control and if set up correctly these little chance of being penalised for using them.

Q – Google won't index my PBN site, what should I do?

A – There will be times where Google just won't index a PBN. If this happens, you can try pinging the site and giving it more time. If after a few months it's still not indexed then I'd recommend just leaving it alone and move on. Set it so that it doesn't auto renew.

Q – Are there any niches I should avoid?

A – I'm not personally a fan of anything in the technology niche. Mainly because commissions can be lower and also models change so often that there's always a need for new content. I like niches where product models are still popular even after several years.
