The Undercover Spy Lab

In this lab, we examine a site that has been sold and see how we can replicate the results (without all the guesswork.)

The Site – SeventhDayAdventistDiet.com

Flippa Listing - https://flippa.com/9977896-seventhdayadventistdiet-com

Date Sold - 10th October 2018

Price Sold For - $30,000

Age of Site When Sold – 4 Years

Details – This is a good example of having multiple streams of income coming from the one site. It focuses on dieting and health and sells ebooks, coaching, Amazon products and Adsense.

Keywords Targeted – It targets diet and weight loss type keywords.

Backlinks – According to MajesticSEO the site has just 2 backlinks. This could be that the site is blocking bots and hiding backlinks or the links just aren't powerful enough to be registered.

What My Plan Would Be To Clone The Results – I would identify a specific type of diet to target and set up a brand new site using a domain name that had that diet term within it (I'd check for trademark issues). I would then create 3,000 word content posts that target relevant keywords and place Amazon native ads on each page. I would most likely need to have 100+ posts on the site to become more of an authority but these can be added on an ongoing basis.

I would use social, Web 2.0 and PBN links to rank the site over the course of 12+ months. I would heavily focus on getting topically related and thematically related backlinks.

The aim would be to get to $1,000+ per month in profit and then sell for $30,000 - $40,000.

The Sniper Lab

The Sniper Lab is all about creating small 3-5 page websites that target buyer keywords with an Exact Match Domain (EMD).

You simply browse the Amazon marketplace to find products, then put those into the Google keyword planner and see what searches come up. Find one that gets 250+ searches a month that has a .com available domain and you're good to go!

You can use a free keyword tool like this one to get more accurate search volumes than the Google keyword planner now gives you.

These are really simple sites to make and each can make you 4 figures in profit when you sell them. They make great additions to add to your Amazon empire.

Here are some domains you can use right now (each one is available as I'm typing this but most have been used before due to the popularity of the niche):

dietwithoutcarbs.com - 210 searches per month

diet90days.net - 480 searches per month

dietdinnerideas.com - 880 searches per month

dietlunchideas.net - 880 searches per month

diet6pack.net - 1,300 searches per month

diet500caloriesaday.com - 1,300 searches per month

dietbreakfastideas.org - 1,300 searches per month

weightloss5weeks.org - 260 searches per month

weightloss5months.org - 320 searches per month

weightlossexerciseforwomen.org - 390 searches per month

These will obviously be snapped up fast by members but give you an idea of what to look for. A new list will be added every month.

The Ranking Lab

The Importance of Research

The methods of ranking websites and getting traffic from social sites can be very easy to follow. For the most part, it's just a case of building strategic backlinks and funnelling free traffic from social platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

But one thing that many people overlook is the importance of doing your keyword research. If you target the wrong keywords, then you might struggle to rank for them and your hard work won't pay off.

Alternatively, if you only target really easy keywords that get barely any traffic, then you won't get enough visitors to make a site profitable.

So it's crucial to find the right keywords when planning out your new and existing sites.

One tool I love to use is https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/

It's completely free and provides keyword suggestions, along with telling you how difficult or easy it will be to rank for those keywords. You can see the monthly searches too, so it doesn't take long to find keywords that are easy to rank for and have some decent traffic too.

If you spend just a few minutes using the tool, you'll find great keywords you can add to sites you already have or ones to use on your new websites.

The Q and A Lab

Questions that have been sent in this month:

Q – Are expired domains good to use for money sites?

A – It used to work pretty well but these days it doesn’t work as well.

The only benefit of doing it now would be if the ‘theme’ of the site, so the niche category in Majestic and nature of the anchor text backlinks, were exactly the same as the niche you want to rank the site in.

So getting a high DA domain about cars will do you no good if you want to rank for fishing.

And a site about general health still wouldn’t help you to rank for six pack abs.

It’s all about the relevance of the existing links.

The only way I’d do it these days is to look at existing domains first, see what links they have and then see if it’s worth ranking for those keywords.

Are there affiliate programs/products I can put on the site for those keywords etc.

So, it can work but only if you stick with the existing topic that the site was about.

Q – Where is the best place to find domains for PBN's?

A – I use RegisterCompass. It's great for Godaddy and Namejet domains which you can buy at auction.

Q – Do you ever sell domains names without a website?

A – Domaining is something I have never really got into. I prefer to build an asset which makes money rather than sit on domain names and hope they sell in the future.
