The Undercover Spy Lab

The Site – 420ExpertGuide.com

Flippa Listing - https://flippa.com/10159156-420expertguide-com

Date Sold - 8th April 2019

Price Sold For - $25,500

Age of Site When Sold – 10 months

Details – Here's a good example of purchasing a website, optimizing it and then flipping it. It was purchased in February and sold last month for $25,500. Whilst we don't know how much it was purchased for, I'm guessing it still made the seller a good profit.

Whilst the topic may put people off (it's about growing drugs), it just shows that targeting a popular niche can really pay off.

It has just 35 articles yet was making $1.5k a month in profit when it was sold.

Keywords Targeted – It targeted all types of grow lights related keywords.

Backlinks – The site has less than 100 referring domains pointing to it, with a total of 188 fresh backlinks.

What My Plan Would Be To Clone The Results – I would set up a brand new site using a domain name that has good branding potential. I would then create 1,000 word content posts that target relevant keywords and place Amazon native ads and other monetization on each page. I would most likely need to have 40+ posts on the site to become more of an authority in the niche but these can be added on an ongoing basis.

Potential keywords I would target:

grow lights

LED grow lights

best LED grow lights

LED grow lights reviews

indoor LED grow lights

indoor grow lights

plant grow lights

best grow lights

and other related long tail keywords found during research.

I would use social, Web 2.0 and PBN links to rank the site over the course of 12-24+ months. I would heavily focus on getting topically related and thematically related backlinks..

The aim would be to get to $1,000+ per month in profit and then sell for $20,000+

The Sniper Lab

The Sniper Lab is all about creating small 3-5 page websites that target buyer keywords with an Exact Match Domain (EMD).

You simply browse the Amazon marketplace to find products, then put those into the Google keyword planner and see what searches come up. Find one that gets 250+ searches a month that has a .com available domain and you're good to go!

You can use a free keyword tool like this one to get more accurate search volumes than the Google keyword planner now gives you.

These are really simple sites to make and each can make you 4 figures in profit when you sell them. They make great additions to add to your Amazon empire.

Here are some domains you can use right now (each one is available as I'm typing this and haven't been used in the last 5 years):

t5growlights.org - 5,400 searches per month

fullspectrumledgrowlights.net - 2,400 searches per month

fluorescentgrowlights.net - 1,900 searches per month (has been used several years ago but worth a go due to number of searches)

cheapledgrowlights.net - 1,300 searches per month

growlightsforplants.org - 1,000 searches per month (has been used several years ago but worth a go due to number of searches)

growlightsled.net - 1,000 searches per month (has been used several years ago but worth a go due to number of searches)

growlightsforsale.org - 1,000 searches per month (has been used several years ago but worth a go due to number of searches)

growlightsstand.org - 1,000 searches per month

ledgrowlights300w.org - 880 searches per month

1000wattledgrowlights.com - 480 searches per month

These will obviously be snapped up fast by members but give you an idea of what to look for. A new list will be added every month.

The Ranking Lab

Aged Domain Test

Here's a useful case study I'm currently running on an aged domain.

I've had the domain for many years but it's just been sat doing nothing. Recently I decided to add some content based around marketing and funnel marketing in particular. I'm using the site to promote the ClickFunnels software.

Here's one of the keywords I'm targeting:

It's climbing nicely and now into the 30's. I've done zero backlinks so far, just themed the site around funnels.

Once I start backlinking then I'm positive that it will jump into the top ten along with the other keywords I'm targeting.

Moral of this test; Don't forget about domains you have lying around. Aged domains are still much faster to rank than brand new ones. You just need to theme them to your niche, add good and unique content and then send relevant backlinks.

The Q and A Lab

Questions that have been sent in this month:

Q – Do 301 redirects work?

A – They can certainly have their uses but I don't use them too often. If I was to use them these days, I'd only use ones that have related backlinks going to them that are related to the page I point them to.

Q – How easy is it to rank local businesses?

A – It's very easy but a little more involved than ranking an affiliate website for example. For local rankings you'll need a good base of 100-200 social links and citations to begin with. Then get backlinks that are coming from sites with your town/city that you want to rank for in the URL's and also the niche you want to rank for in too.

For example, if you want to rank for London dentist, then once you have laid out your base social and citation links, you'll want to get links from sites that have london in the URL and also sites that have dentist in the URL. By getting these relevant links, you'll be able to rank faster and easier than getting 10x the amount of links that are not related at all.

Q – I can't find auction domains to use as PBN's that are relevant to my money site. Any tips?

A – You can help to make unrelated PBN's relevant by adding your keywords into the main site SEO title and then including them in your blog post too.

For example, let's say you bought an expired or auction domain and it was an old recipe blog called MyGreatRecipeTips.com. But you want to link to a car insurance site. Well you simply give the PBN a homepage title of “Recipes For Success | Food, Car Insurance, Business and more”. Then add a post on that site called something like “Tips For Getting Great Car Insurance Deals” and use that post to link to your money site.

You'll now have a link from a site that has your main keyword in it's homepage title and also in the inner URL you are linking from. That will give you a lot of relevancy, even though it's not technically related to your topic.
