The Undercover Spy Lab

In this lab, we examine a site that has been sold and see how we can replicate the results (without all the guesswork.)

The Site – JungleDealsAndSteals.com

Flippa Listing - https://flippa.com/8956508-jungledealsandsteals-com

Date Sold - 12th November 2017

Price Sold For - $10,001

Age of Site When Sold – 6 years

Details – This one is a bit different but has a good twist on creating Amazon affiliate earnings. It posts daily deals on products with offers on and obviously links to those products via the owners affiliate links.

Keywords Targeted – It gets a lot of direct traffic, so whilst SEO would be an advantage there is a wider scope to get social traffic and also from deal/coupon websites. That would get more direct traffic to the site without relying on Google too much.

Backlinks – The site has a lot of backlinks showing in MajesticSEO. More than 28,000 of them in fact from less than 100 referring domains. It appears that a large percentage of those were added from November through to December. These could be spam links or negative SEO potentially, so can probably be discounted.

What My Plan Would Be To Clone The Results – I would set up a brand new site using a domain name that has deals, discounts or coupons in it. I would then post daily to the site with a new offer on a product. This work would be outsourced for a very small amount via one of the popular outsourcing websites.

I would submit the site to as many discount/coupon websites as I can, this would be done either manually or via software. These links would bring in both direct traffic and also good quality backlinks.

Potential keywords I would target:

In this instance, I would try and focus more on getting traffic from coupon and social sites rather than SEO. I would of course research keywords that I would like to rank for but these would probably take a while to rank for and be quite competitive.

I would aim to build the site up for 6-24 months on autopilot and then flip it.

The aim would be to get to $1,000+ per month in profit and then sell for $25,000+

The Sniper Lab

The Sniper Lab is all about creating small 3-5 page websites that target buyer keywords with an Exact Match Domain (EMD).

You simply browse the Amazon marketplace to find products, then put those into the Google keyword planner and see what searches come up. Find one that gets 250+ searches a month that has a .com available domain and you're good to go!

You can use a free keyword tool like this one to get more accurate search volumes than the Google keyword planner now gives you.

These are really simple sites to make and each can make you 4 figures in profit when you sell them. They make great additions to add to your Amazon empire.

Here are some domains you can use right now (each one is available as I'm typing this and has a clean history):

midikeyboardcontroller.org - 2,400 searches per month

campingshowertent.net - 1,000 searches per month

bestwhitenoisemachine.net - 1,600 searches per month

foamsurfboard.org - 1,300 searches per month

divecomputerwatch.org - 720 searches per month

minijumpstarter.net - 1,000 searches per month

digitaltireinflator.net - 880 searches per month

pullupdipstation.net - 1,600 searches per month

instantcabintent.net - 720 searches per month

stationaryrecumbentbike.org - 720 searches per month

These will obviously be snapped up fast by members but give you an idea of what to look for. A new list will be added every month.

The Ranking Lab

Building the Perfect Authority Site in 2018

Now we're in December, it's a good time to start thinking about what sites to build in 2018. Building ONE authority site in the next 12 months could make you 5 or 6 figures in 2019, so it's time to get focused!

Here's a rundown on how I will personally be building some of my own sites starting next month...

Domain name – A short 2-3 word name that makes sense for the niche, hasn't been used before in archive.org and a .com.

Logo/Branding – Always get a logo for an authority site. They add professionalism and trust to a visitor and you can get them for just $5 from Fiverr and they would be perfectly good to use. No need to pay hundreds.

Content – A good mixture of product reviews and general tips about the niche. Lots of keyword research carried out to identify competitive ones and also some long tail keywords to aim for. I'll want at least 50 pages for each site of unique content. Ideally, they will turn into 200+ page site to build more authority, traffic and income.

Backlinks – I'd first start with 20-50 social backlinks. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc. These help the site to look natural and even though many links will be no-follow, they still help with link diversity. These links will all use the naked URL as the anchor text. Try and get your main niche keywords in the URL or title of each social site to help with branding and relevance.

PBN's – I'd create very relevant PBN's to the site, making sure my main keywords are in the URL, title (or both) of the pages that have my links on. I'd also have my main niche keywords in the title of the homepage of each PBN.

I'd link each PBN to 1,2 or 3 pages of my money site each time to get the most from them. Anchor text will change for each one.

Stealing Links – Once I have a good mix of social and PBN links, it's time to see what links my competitors have and see if I can get links from the same places. These are often free to submit or might be a small fee. If the links are relevant and strong, it's probably worth paying for. You can use MajesticSEO or ahrefs to find these links.

Maintenance – I will continue to add content to the site and drip in backlinks on a constant basis over the course of 2018. By the end of the year, the site should be making 4 figures a month in profit and can be flipped for a 5 figure lump sum.

There's really nothing more to it than that. Identify your niche, add good content and get relevant backlinks. Keep things building steadily and you'll see your profits rise at the same rate.

Build as many sites as you can manage, it will pay off in the end!

The Q and A Lab

Questions that have been sent in this month:

Q – How much do you pay for your PBN domains?

A – I rarely pay more than $50 for my PBN's. In most cases I am just the only bidder in Godaddy auctions, so get them at the lowest price.

Q – Does a PBN domain have to be related to the money site I need it for?

A – It would certainly help if it was already in the same niche but those are hard to come by. You can theme the PBN site though by adding your niche keywords into the main homepage title and also adding thematically relevant content.

Q – What percentage of sites do you keep?

A – I like to have a good turnover in the sites I make. So I tend to sell a high percentage of them. I'd rather have regular lump sum payments coming into my business than relying on passive income which could potentially be turned off at any time by Amazon (not happened in 14 years but it's always something to consider).

Q – Do you only use Amazon for affiliate income?

A – For the most part, yes. I do use JVZoo for internet marketing related income but for my affiliate sites I find Amazon is the easiest and best to use.
